How Long have You been Diamond Painting?
Well for me it has been only a short time.
Here's my first painting. This is our favourite (Pauline's one)
But for Pauline it has nearly 2 years now, and loving every minute of it.
It begs the questions, What, When, Where, Why, did diamond painting come from?
What is Diamond Painting?
Diamond Painting is an easy and enjoyable activity for crafters young and old. Based on the same concept as mosaics tilling and paint-by-numbers(paint by numbers started in the fifties), diamond painting uses tiny “diamond-like" facets to create colourful designs and patterns for finished designs that sparkle.
Did you notice it said the word 'Mosaics'?
When and Where?
The concept of mosaic tiles originated in the 3rd Century BC in local buildings on walls and floors. Widely used on religious buildings and palaces in early Islamic art, including Islam's first great religious building, the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, and the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.
Today, many professional artist and the like use it in things they want to feature with materials like stone, ceramic, glass, and beads. The humble craft person does it in 5D diamond Painting. No, I'm not saying that diamond painting started centuries ago, but I would like to think it has come from good heritage.
Why do we do 5d Diamond Painting?
It is relaxing, therapeutic, stress relief, and you end up with wonderful pictures that looks so life like. You can do anything you like in a 5D Diamond Painting, animals, nature, landscape, flowers, forest, birds. It is only limited to your imagination.
